Although I’m not a back fan of cynicism around charity activity (surely it’s better to be helpful than negligent or rude) this book makes some great observations, proposes good alternatives for almost every negative activity it highlights. A well considered book.

John Venn
What I am finding absolutely riveting about this book is that John Venn and his companions achieved so much, partly because they could buy land, build buildings establish charities and serve food without concerns for bureaucracy and state intervention. Maybe it’s because the needs were greater 150 years ago, or because Trust was a real commodity, or because they really were pioneering and visionary, I don’t know. Inspiring nonetheless.

In Heavenly Love Abiding
The father of my mentor, at his funeral, was proved to be a man of utmost integrity with eyes fixed eternally on his heavenly home. I can only hope to reach the contentment and confidence that he enjoyed through his unwavering faith and service.
